On December 9, 2007, the Friends of Leitrim Wetland issued a second media release, encouraging the public to object to a new proposal for a Permit To Take Water at Leitrim Wetland that would see 17 million litres of water per day drained from the wetland for the next ten years. This is the equivalent of 50 Olympic-size swimming pools each week.
