We are saddened by the news of George Wilson’s death on Wednesday April 13, 2011 at age 69. I am sure that you will join with me in sending condolences to his wife Jennifer and all his family. While with the Sierra Club, George was very active in efforts to protect the Leitrim Wetland. Later he was very involved in the “Run, Walk for Clean Air,” a fund raising activity the Greenspace Alliance undertook with the Sierra Club and the Friends of the Farm for a number of years. He served as our Chair in 2007. More recently he co-chaired the Poets’ Pathway Committee.
We will all miss George’s active participation and quiet efficiency in his activities within our and sister organizations. George’s life will be celebrated at an evening Memorial Service at the First Unitarian Church (30 Cleary Avenue, Ottawa), on Saturday, April 23 at 7 p.m. Donations to Myeloma Canada will be appreciated.
