“1. Yes I support for a strong site alteration by-law.
2. Yes I support a renewed commitment to an annual allocation towards an environmental lands acquisition fund. As the Chair of the Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee (ESAC) of the City of Ottawa in 2013, a motion was crafted stating:
That the Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee (ESAC) endorse the staff recommendation to purchase three Urban Natural Features (UNF) – Armstrong Road Woods; Shea Road Woods and Rock Knoll Park; That ESAC encourages the City to purchase the remaining features; and That ESAC supports staff in the development of the Environmentally Sensitive Land Stewardship Framework.
Council did purchase these three UNF’s at a projected cost of $21 million dollars.
3. Yes I support standing firm in support of the prohibition against future country lot subdivisions.
4. I feel that the ESAC did provide a bridge between the public and Council. For your perusal:
In 2013, as Chair of ESAC of the City of Ottawa, ESAC did form a Sub Cmt on Air Quality. I called and ESAC held, in accordance with Subsection 10 (1) of the Advisory Committee Procedure By-law a Special Meeting for the purpose of considering the Transportation Master Plan Review: Cycling and Pedestrian Plans in which members of the public attended.
I also attended the Greenhouse Gas Roundtable in 2013 in which citizens of Ottawa listened to a panel of experts and had the opportunity to ask questions.
ESAC was also onsite and members of the Cmt. volunteered at the Water Roundtable held in June 2014. As Vice Chair (2014) of ESAC, I participated in the O’Connor Street Bikeway Study Planning Workshop which was a workshop open to the public for their feedback.”
