WARD 5 Candidates – West Carleton-March

The propositions:

1. Support for a strong site alteration by-law, with emphasis on “strong.”
2. Renewed commitment to an annual allocation towards an environmental lands acquisition fund.
3. Standing firm in support of the prohibition against future country lot subdivisions.
4. The City’s Advisory Committees should be genuine bridges between the public and Council.

Brendan Gorman:

“In terms of your specific questions I am not sure. I’d have to look into that further if I’m lucky enough to be elected.
I certainly consider myself a supporter of green space. After all I made the conscience decision to move from suburban Kanata to a 3 acre private property in West Carleton.

I am a road cyclist which also makes you develop a strong appreciation for green space.

Generally speaking I am a believer in the ideas of Jane Jacobs. Any proposals brought forward that are in line with her thoughts and ideas I’d be extremely warm to. From what I remember she had rather intelligent designs on how to avoid creating concrete jungles.”
