    5. Transition to new Not-for-profit corporations Act
Industry Canada’s Database Integrity Unit found the  request for a Certificate of Continuance incomplete.  Elina will review and send what is required to complete the request.
  4. Emerald Ash Borer update
A media release was issued on July 22.
Next week there is a meeting planned with Canadian Food Inspection Agency. CFIA is discussing with the City on what to do about the wood of the cut Ash trees at the Trail Road dump site.
  5. OMB matters-update on Urban Boundary Phase 2B

Planning Committee on June 26 rejected staff’s recommendation not to develop Area 2 and rejected staff’s recommendation on how to break a tie with the scores. As the result, at the start of the hearing on July 3rd the City put forward a motion that all the lands that scored 48 or higher be included in the urban boundary; the Board has agreed. As the result the urban area will expand by at least1065 ha instead of 850 ha.

For phase 2B two parcels remained to be considered by the Board: parcel #1C (scored 46) and parcel #1F- South.
We are awaiting the Board’s decision.

Given the decision by Council and our failure to get staff on record regarding the scoring for wastewater service of Area 2, it was decided to withdraw our participation in the hearing.  Erwin is drafting a report about the Urban Boundary issue.

  6. Greenbelt update
There have been no developments since last month.
  7. Urban Natural Features report
Jason will send his report to the Green News List in order to request further feedback. Amy suggested that it would also be useful to identify those high value lands for which zoning reduced the protected area by more than 50% from the originally identified allocation.
  8. New business
    1. Global Warming Forum

The option to participate will be advertised on the list to see if anybody would like to represent the Alliance in the Global Warming Forum. The event will take place in the fall.

    2. 222 Beechwood

Amy will ask Janice Seline if she is interested in holding an information kiosk to promote GA.

    3. Tree Day (September 26)

We are looking for ideas to celebrate Tree Day, particularly highlighting the problem of the Emerald Ash Borer.

The meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m.

Next meeting of the Alliance will be on Tuesday, August 28, 20102, Hunt Club/Riverside Community Centre, 3320 Paul Anka Drive, at 7:00 p.m.
